After a season of intimate, fog-laden parties and streams scattered across San Francisco...we're delighted to present MONIKER001.
This V/A features 3 heavyweight selections from Bay Area's very own « Pteron, kk.Shucko, and Soeneido » . Perfect for those heads-down moments in the club where rhythmic manipulation, tension, and release work the floor.
Pteron kicks off "So You May See Your Good Work", a high-tempo roller that embodies the interconnectedness of contemporary dance music. Eerie pads and mechanical blips preface a snarling bassline that slithers throughout the track, easing into halftime lulls before exploding into snappy electro rhythms. Certified hair-raising and bouncy o͡͡͡╮໒( •̀ ‿ •́ )७╭o͡͡͡
“an vacant fauna" catapults us into the fray with a 100bpm ritual of submarine club sounds. Inspired by contemporary experiments in halftime rhythms, post-dubstep, and sound design, kk.Shucko's work revels in transfiguring found sounds – be it atomized, collaged, or warped – into strange crystalline forms. Soeneido helms the final chapter with a torrent of frenetic breaks that feel like the perfect soundtrack to a high-octane drive through an alternate junglist universe. "Riven" is named after the 1997 computer game of the same name. Soen: "I tried to encapsulate the otherworldly mood playing those games as a kid into this one song." ⊂(‘ω’⊂ )))Σ≡=─༄༅༄༅༄
